If you are regular PC or Laptop user, you will know the meaning of Temporary files. For others, temporary files are files which are created temporarily while creating a new file in your computer. These files will get saved in your computer and if you don’t remove them, they will use up valuable space. Also, sometimes they affect your system performance as well. So, it is vital to remove them from time to time.
If you are a regular Windows-based computer user, you might know the exact location (folder) of the temporary files and delete them. But, if you are newbie, then it would be quite difficult for you to find these files as the folders containing these files will be located deep down in the Windows folder. Sounds difficult, right? Not anymore. Here, I have given a step by step tutorial to remove Temporary files from Windows computer without using any software’s.

For this tutorial, I am using my Windows 7 Computer. You can follow this same tutorial on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 8 without any issues.

1) To get started, click on the Windows button in your computer. Once down, enter “Run” on the “Search programs and files” box and press enter.

2) Now you will see a new window opening up, asking you to enter the name of folder, file, etc.

3) In the window, enter “temp” without quotes in the “Open” space and click on “Ok“.

4) Once you click on “Ok“, the folder which is containing the temporary files will open up.

5) Now, select them all and delete them. While deleting, you will get Folder or File in use message popping up. Just press “Skip” and delete the remaining files.
6) Once the files are deleted, click on the Windows button and enter “Run” to open up the Run Window again. Now, here enter “%temp%” without quotes to open up the Local Temporary folder.

7) Next, delete all the files in the Local temporary folder either by pressing the “Delete” button in Keyboard or by pressing “Shift + Delete” button. You will get the Folder in use message as in Step 5 for some folders. Skip them and delete the remaining files and folders.
That’s it. Now you have successfully deleted the temporary files located in your Windows computer manually. Instead of following these detailed steps, alternatively you can open up the temporary folders in your computer by entering the following paths in the Windows folder path:
C:\Windows\Temp
C:\Users\Sathish\AppData\Local\Temp

Tutorial To Delete Temporary Files From Windows Computer Using CCleaner:

We have seen how to remove temporary files manually above. Let’s find out how to do the same using a program called CCleaner.
1) To get started, download Piriform CCleaner and install it in your PC or Laptop. Once done, open it up and click on “Analyze“.

2) Once CCleaner finished up analyzing the temporary files in your computer, click on “Run Cleaner” to remove them.
